Rossland's Finest Turn-up for a Sunday Shoot out

Thin Air Frolf Club, Rossland, BC - In a wild afternoon, the four person team of Tucker, Tanner, Devon and H shot a tournament best 5 under par to capture the 1st annual Ross-Vegas Best Disc Frolf Tournament and a 60 dollar top prize.

The event started at 11am Rossland time, with a rules and registration meeting to kick off the event. Six, three and four person teams began with a shotgun start moving around the 18 hole course in a little over 2 hours. Teams were only able to use 6 drives from anyone player limiting the premier players from dominating the tourney. This didn't seem to phase the winning team who evenly distributed their pin point drives across their squad. Newcomer Devon, proved to be a real asset to the victorious group showing that there might be a little competition for Peach in Rossland after all. The team made up of Chantelle, OB, Brian (Nelson) and Trevor shot a slick 4 under par and secured second position with a 45 dollar payout. In what proved to be an exciting tournament moment, 2 teams played a 5 hole sudden death playoff to determine 3rd place. The 2 groups played even frolf for 4 holes with Chunk blowing a par saving putt to give Rawsthorne, Corinna, Jamie and Brendan the final position in the top three and a lovely auto enhancement package donated by the 7 Summits Gas and Convenience Store.

A special thanks would like to be made to the Ross-Vegas boardshop and the 7 Summits Gas Station for donating prizes and sponsoring the event as well as the Rossland Frolf Association Executive for organizing the day. The RFA would also like to thank everyone for coming out, playing Frolf and taking part in this event. As this will be the RFA's last sanctionned event of the year, they would also like to thank all the sponsors, the Black Jack Nordic Centre and the city of Rossland for making the Thin Air Frolf Course one of the premier courses in the area.

Im just neat thats all!!

Apparently somebody thinks Im gay or look gay..whatever that means.

Anyways....On a totally different and unrelated matter that I assure you has nothing to do with the first sentence in this Blog. Really it doesnt. I would like to congratulate this years Masters winner...

Jeff Butcher

Congrats on your first Masters. -12 is quite impressive. Its totally too bad Fry couldnt get out for that mandatory Sunday round because he did play really well. We should have been more flexible on that sunday round.. I remeber when we came up with the couple of rounds through the week and then the final on sunday at that meeting and I was thinking to myself thats just not fair but I guess thats just the way it goes. I guess democracy does rule. Anyways.........

Congrats again Chunk!!!!!

Thanksgiving Frolf, Peach's first defeat and the Masters

Thin Air Frolf Club, Rossland - First of all on this day of giving thanks, I would like to give thanks to Frolf and all of the wonderful attributes it brings us. The thrills and excitement of a nice approach shot, the exhilaration of the disc hitting the chains, the ridiculous frustration of hitting the #@$%n light post on number 12 and the moments spent with friends that will be remembered for a lifetime. Thank you frolf.

Now that I got that off my chest, its time to rehash today's frolfing events. With the parking lot busting at the seams and back ups occurring on many holes, the Thin Air Frolf Club was buzzing with excitement. Brian and family were getting in a quick 9; Tucker (who turned 19 today, Happy B Day Tuck!), Peach and Fry were having a $2 stoke play match; Chunk and family joined forces with Knobber and family to snail through a round of 18; Michelle and her crew of outdoor enthusiasts were hooting and hollering at their kids and discs with many others out enjoying the wonderful Thanksgiving weather. Fry surprised even himself today shooting a -2, beating Peach and Tucker while setting his own personal best for the year. More importantly Fry and Tucker (EVEN) both got the best of Peach (+4) handing him his first career 18 hole gross score loss at the Thin Air Frolf Club. Fry and Peach carried on and played a second round with Peach reasserting his dominance with a -4 but needed 5 birdies on the back nine including birdies on 17 and 18 to get by the rejuvenated Fry. A special note must be made about BriBri's beautiful Birdie on 6 followed by a stellar par put on 7. Straight shooting there Bri. Chunk's fabulous 4some cruised around the course setting personals bests for longest round and most time spent on one tee box.

With Thanksgiving under our belts or over them in some cases, its time to focus for the final Rossland Frolf Association event of the season, THE MASTERS. The Masters is taking on a different format this year with the tournament being reduced to the best 3 out of 4 rounds and being played over the course of the entire week. Players must register their rounds on the blog and a virtual scoreboard will be established. Each round must be sanctioned by having at least 2 qualifying members present and all rounds will be played at the Campground Frolf Course. The Masters will be a spring tournament next year so this is the end of a long and confused era. If you are interested in The Masters please register with Chunk (0023). The entry fee is $5 with the bulk of the money going to the winner and the next 2 finishers. Defending champion Kevin "Fried" Johnson is primed and ready to throw his discs at the ground once again this year. A mandatory final round will be played on Sunday morning at 9am. All participants must be there to take part. This tourney has been played for the past 10 years with many of the original frolfers from the Rossland area taking part each time. Be a part of history and register today.
