Peaches runs away with "Spring Fling"

Black Jack F&CC, Rossland, BC - On a cool, yet sunny Sunday morning Peaches put together 2 solid rounds of frolf and ran away with the RFA's first tournament of the year capturing the Spring Fling title and $20. Rounds of -6 and -5 were more than enough to take the title ahead of long time rival and President's Cup team mate Fry. Fry struggled off the tee during the second round, posting a respectable -4 but coming up 4 strokes shy of the Peach overall. "He was solid in all aspects of his game. Putting, mid-range and off the Tee, Peach put together 2 tight rounds of frolf." said Fry when asked of the newcomers dominance. "I felt good" said Peach "everything was clicking, the putter was decent and the mid-range and drives kept me in birdie range all day." This was a bitter sweet victory for Peaches after coming in 2nd behind Fry in last year's season ending "Masters" held at the Campground Frolf course. "I worked extremely hard prior to the tournament making sure that I had the endurance to last 2 rounds" Peach replied after being questioned on his unravelling at last year's Masters. "Lifting, jogging and yoga are a daily routine for me since the breakdown." Taking third position was Hollywood Frolfer Orion shooting 3 rounds of EVEN frolf. 3 frolfers were EVEN after round 1 with only Orion able to maintain his 1st round score. Chunk challenged early in the 2nd round but bogies on 9, 10 and 12 shut his comeback down. "I felt great coming into the tourney, beating most of my rivals in head to head play prior to the tournament but couldn't get the disc rolling today." Chunk said that he's not to be counted out in the future but that Sunday was just not his day. Bash, Benner, Knobber, Haorld and Tanner all finished above par and never really challenged. Tanner took the female side of the tournament playing extremely well on the first round but paired up with Harry, Benner and Bash in the 2nd round seemed to rattle the female #1 and she ballooned to a +13. "I was throwing the disc well but just couldn't finish" said Tanner "my score is a little exaggerated as I lost focus after doubling #9 and realized that catching Harry was not a possibility today." Tanner vows to be in the mix at the next event. The next tournament is a match play event that will showcase the head to head play of Geezie and Tucker who were absent from the Fling but will be ready in June for the Rossland Frolf Match Play event.

The Tourney is on!!!

Hey everyone, the tourney at Black Jack is tomorrow at 8am. Start calling around to make sure that everyone is on board. Chunk are you still able to get burgers? Blaine will coffee and supplies be able to be had? Fry can you bring your basket? Can someone call Knobber and Rawsthorne? Scotty? Anyone else that is in to playing? The weather might be suspect but we've played in a bit of rain before and we can do it again. Call me if there are any issues...362.9042

On another note, Chunk seems to think that his game is back on... So it looks like there might be a little of the shit talk happening out there. Benner has new discs and is ready to strike, fry is always silky smooth, Knobber is steady and can suprise anyone, Tucker and Geez are playing SOFTball (weren't a real threat anyway) and then there is the PEACH! What can I say? Low scores, smash talk Frolf is what I'm bringing... BEWARE.

Only 2 Days Away...

With the tourney only 2 days away it's time to get serious.

  • First, The tourney will be using an alternate tee on number 9. After finishing number 8 go back up the road away from the original tee and pin. The alternate tee is set up with rocks and offers a super long Left to Right shot that carries the entire dip. Also there is a hole number 3 now. The tee is very obvious after completing number 2 and the hole is through the gap on the right (short left to right shot necessary). Try these new shots out before the tourney.
  • Second, Please be at the course by 3.00pm on Sunday to allow for groups to be formed. Bring your own beers and 5 dollars. One dollar will be put in an ACE KITTY. This will be split up amongst the players that ace holes during the tournament.
  • Third, the tourney will be limited to 2 rounds. After completing the 1st round the 4-somes will be reshuffled by score. The highest scores will tee off first with the lowest 4 players making up the final grouping. The purse will be split up amongst the top 3 players, the acers and a couple of special prizes for closest to and most bizarre shot.
  • Blaine, is it possible to bring your BBQ? Chunk don't forget the Cooler with ICE, the Hamburger Items and the White Board. I will get drinks/chips from Ferraros.

Please feel free to invite anyone interested in the game and call me if there are any problems, concerns or ideas that you have for the tourney. (362.9042)

Ciao,

A moment of Rant.

I'm in! With some direction, I've conquered yet another computer phenomena known as "blog" or "blogging" [one who "blogs" may be known as a "blogger"]. It is just one brief stop on my maniacal journey to take over all aspects of the computer world, create a computer army of frolfers, and TAKE OVER THE PDGA!!!!!!HAHAHAHAHAAAAAA.

What does next weekend look like?

How about a little 3 round tourney up at the Black Creek Golf and CC next weekend? Fry and I were discussing it and it would be great to have a season opening tourney (Beers, BBQ, prize money). If you think the dates work comment so we know and if they don't mention what would and maybe the times.

Rain, Rain Go Away...

Multiple Choice

You know that a Frolfer is keen when:
a) he makes 6 calls to try and get a game off the ground on a rainy day
b) he goes to the course and is shut out due to wetness and construction
c) he goes back to the course 3 hours later to try and "fit one in..."
d) all of the above

Correct response... d

Well that was my yesterday in a Nutshell (not really in a nutshell as I am 6'1" and wouldn't fit in any nutshell I've ever seen, unless that nut was huge and then it would probably be in a museum or something). When they finally got out there for a 6.30pm tee off Tucker, Blaine, Fry and Peach were ready to make things happen. They decided to play a little different match, bringing in the "Lone Wolf" game. Due to lack of mathematical skills, and/or an abundence of safety meetings the boys lost track of the Wolf scores and settled into the game at had... getting Benner's #1 tag.

Peach went out with a bang. Birdies on 5 of the first 6 rushed him into the lead. Fry was putting like a champ and was close behind at -3 after the first 6 holes. Benner was up and down and hoovering aroung par, finishing +1; with Tucker reverting to his ultra conservative alter ego, Chris, blowing up for a +5. When the match was drawing to an end Peach birdied 17 to pull with in one stroke of Fry's -7. Peach hit the smallest branch off the 18th Tee and pretty much ended his chances at winning outright. Fry calmly rocked up and BAM hit a small branch and gave P a window of oppurtunity. The window was painted shut or broken or dirty or whatever... Both made par and Fry, with his ultra putting skills, regained the #1 status.

Today's Scouting Report

Tucker - needs to get back to his creative self and make things happen. Too Conservative.
Benner - New Discs. End of Story.
Fry - If he starts getting the drives going...course records look out!
Peach - Off the Tee, the fruit is on his game but... "Drive for Show. Putt for Dough!"

Monday Afternoon at the Links

Benner, Peach and Bash battled it out on the links at Eagle Ridge in a eventful yet mediocre round. Bash who hadn't tossed a disc since arriving back from the good life a Mike Wiegles, played a superb round shooting +2 while carding 2 doubles and possibly a triple. He was steady on the rest making a fantastic birdie put on 17 to steal honours for the last tee. Benner and Peach were up and down both carding a double in the mix and ended up on the 18th with Benner (current #1 tag) at -4 and Peach at -2. The round seemed as good as over with Peach conceding the match stating "Well let's see something exciting here since the game is over!" Benner subsequently stepped up and tossed, what was supposed to be a S bend out into the soccer field, a nasty left to right nearly 20 yards to the right of the new "RV" and into the marshy area. The door was open. Peach coolly knocked one into the soccer field thinking par can force a playoff. Benner rallied with a huge hammer and followed with a weak backhand that barely made the left bank. Peach lying 2 to the bank waited his turn. Benner hit a branch and was lying 4 to Peach's 2. Benner then gets up and throws for his 5 getting it to within a gimmie and salvaging a 6. One would think that Peach would safely make par and force the playoff. Well on a day where the Peach's putter was pretty much non existent nothing was for sure. After a weak putt/approach P was left with a 15 footer to force a playoff. Let's just say that Benner still has the #1 tag.

Did I mention Bash threw the disc well?
